What does the Bible say about Life Coaching?
The Bible doesn’t specifically mention “life coaching,” but it has a LOT to say about seeking wise counsel, renewing our minds, encouraging one another, and growing in wisdom. And really, that’s so much of what Christian life coaching is about.
Proverbs 15:22 says, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Sometimes we just need someone to come alongside us. Someone to listen, ask good questions, help us see our blind spots, and recognize the thoughts and patterns that may be keeping us stuck.
As a Christian life coach, I’m not here to tell you what God wants you to do. That’s between you and Him. But I can help you slow down, get clear on what you really want, listen for God’s direction, and figure out what might be getting in the way.
One of my FAVORITE verses when it comes to coaching is Romans 12:2: “Don’t be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will test and approve what God’s will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Because our thoughts matter!
So often we’re walking around believing thoughts like, I can’t do this. I never follow through. It’s too late for me. What if I fail? We don’t even realize how much those thoughts are affecting the way we live. Those thoughts are based in fear. And the Bible has a lot to say about not being afraid! We are either making decisions from a place of Love or a place of Fear.
In coaching, we learn to notice those thoughts, hold them up to Truth, and practice a new way of thinking. And then? We take small, doable steps forward.
Christian life coaching isn’t about fixing yourself or proving your worth. You are already loved and valued by God. It’s about getting unstuck, renewing your mind, and continuing to become the woman God created you to be.
And sometimes, it really helps to have someone walking alongside you as you do it.
